Opportunities for Michigan Troops and Crews

to Interact with Scouts from Other Countries

Travel to Canada and participate in events with Canadian Scouts. There are many weekend camporees in Ontario that are open to Michigan units.

Participate in the 2020 Michigan International Camporee. This is a two-week experience unlike anything in any other BSA council where MCC troops and crews host international contingents in their homes one week and then all the MCC host units and their international guests camp together at an MCC resident camp the second week.

The most recent Michigan International Camporee took place in the summer of 2016 with 25 countries represented.  To see photos and videos of MIC 2016 and download the MIC 2016 Participant Handbook and Looney Tomes daily newspaper, click here.

Form a contingent to take a trip to a jamboree in another country. The jamboree fee for a jamboree in another country is low enough that, even adding airfare, the total cost per person of an overseas trip is similar to the cost of participating in the BSA National Jamboree or a Philmont trip.  Now, more than a year out, is the time that leaders should start planning and organizing this type trip for the summer of 2018.  There are 2018 jamborees in Austria, England (5 different jamborees), Honduras, Hungary, Ireland, and The Netherlands.  Every one of those countries except Austria and The Netherlands had a contingent at the 2016, Michigan International Camporee, so we have good contacts to help you find a Scout group to host your contingent. The Michigan Crossroads Council International Scouting Committee would be glad to help you in your planning.
